Duradek Versus Composite Decking

What is composite decking?

Composite decking is when wood is combined with PVC or Vinyl or other plastic products through a manufacturing process and then pressed, colored and molded into shapes resembling real wood decking boards.

Composite decking has been hailed as a “Low Maintenance” decking solution when compared with wooden decks that require extensive bleaching, cleaning and staining almost every year.

It would be unfair to “paint” all composite decking with the same “brush” so to speak, as there is great variation in available quality. Obviously, you get what you pay for! Cheap composite decking will discolor more quickly, and in some extreme cases crumble and become brittle in the sun.

To compare Duradek with Composite decking may not be a fair comparison, as the two can serve very different purposes. Duradek can certainly be used in the majority of Composite Decking applications, but the reverse is certainly not true!
