PROBLEM

The owners of a home on Lake Lanier had been remodelling their home over a two year period. With such beautiful views, the deck could be a prime area of the residence but it left much to be desired. As it was not attached to the home properly, it was very shaky and unsound structurally.

Additionally, years of weather abuse and a poorly conceived fibreglass panel water routing system under the drip-through deck left the upper deck with rotting wood and left the lower deck below wet and unusable.

DURADEK SOLUTION

Duradek professionals know that it is essential to start with a properly prepared substrate, so the original deck was removed and a solid structure put in place.

The deck was then covered in Duradek Surcoseal Latte vinyl waterproof walkable membrane and the perimeter was finished with Durarail Beige Glass and Picket railing system.

Duradek was able to provide reliable waterproofing, allowing the installation of a Bead-board tongue and groove ceiling on the lower deck – and an entire second (dry!) patio to be enjoyed by the homeowners.

JOB NOTES

While this particular home had an existing patio under their second floor deck, Duradek’s walkable waterproof membrane can enable any raised deck to have dry, usable space underneath.
