Project: Leaky Tile Deck Renovation at Private Residence, Bay Area, CA

PROBLEM

This Bay Area home was suffering from water damage due to an improperly installed tile deck.

Multiple contractors attempted to solve the problem with low-cost patching, however the leaking persisted. An inadequate deck slope guaranteed that the problems would continue regardless of how often the deck was patched.

The customer was out-of-pocket for each failed attempt to solve the problem and very frustrated that efforts to stop the water damage were fruitless.

DURADEK SOLUTION

The Duradek professionals were called in and installed Tiledek, Duradek’s waterproof membrane specifically designed as an under-tile exterior waterproofing membrane that provides a superior surface for outdoor tiles to adhere to.

With the curving shape of the deck and the details that required expert knowledge and experience, Duradek’s trained applicators were able to professionally waterproof the deck. The customers were now able to enjoy their tile deck without the cost and worry of having to pull it up for repairs.

JOB NOTES

The Duradek experts discovered that the original material used under the tile was inadequate for proper waterproofing. Waterproofing is a specialty and it is very important to make sure you have both the right product and the right professionals for the job.
