Duradek – Keeping Decks and Kids Dry with the GVHBA Coats for Kids 2017 Campaign

At Duradek, we’ve been protecting decks and keeping them dry and protected from moisture for decades. Even though peak decking season is over, this is one of our favourite times of year where we can help keep kids dry and protected too.

Duradek is a family owned and operated local Lower Mainland business who cares about families. We get a great feeling of satisfaction knowing that what we do helps keeps families homes’ protected and gives them a special place to enjoy quality time together. We also care about our community and like to show our support to those who may be facing challenging times or are less fortunate in their circumstances.

That’s why, as a member of the Greater Vancouver Homebuilders’ Association (GVHBA), Duradek is proud to take part in the annual Coats for Kids program as a drop-off location for people to donate lightly used and new coats. Since 1995, this heartwarming program has supported the Lower Mainland and Surrey Christmas Bureaus, serving families in need.

This year the campaign runs from Tuesday, November 14 through to Friday, December 1st, and Duradek is one of 60 GVHBA member companies offering drop-off locations across 12 municipalities.

More than just keeping a child warm, every coat donated warms the hearts of many people along the way.

Donating to Coats for Kids in support of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau

We’d like to challenge our Duradek family to exceed the hefty amount of coats and toys for the Coats for Kids program in past years. Help us beat our record with your donation.

The response to the 2016 Coats for Kids campaign was a resounding success with more than 3,600 items donated across 95 locations. These gently used and new coats, scarves, gloves, blankets, and new toys for distribution to children of all ages brought some holiday happiness to families that have challenges for some of the basic necessities that many of us take for granted. Give yourself some warm-fuzzy feelings by giving something warm and fuzzy for a kid who needs it.

Donation Tips

Coats for teens are always in high demand. Even though some teens fit adult sizing, the coats need to appeal their age group (hoodies are always a popular choice). Buying new items for donations is also an option, along with donating scarves, hats, gloves, and new unwrapped toys (hockey sticks, soccer and basketballs, and art supplies are always a hit).
